Anxious but Not Alone

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

Anxiety can feel like quicksand: pulling you down the more you fight it. Your mind replays “what ifs,” your heart races, and suddenly you’re carrying fears about things that haven’t even happened yet. In those moments, the last thing you feel is peace. But God never asks you to pretend those anxious thoughts don’t exist. Instead, He says, “Bring them to Me.”
Peter’s words are powerful because he doesn’t just say, “Don’t be anxious.” He gives us a trade: cast it on God. In the same way a fisherman throws a net into the sea and lets it go, we are invited to throw the weight of our worry onto Him. The word “cast” isn’t gentle, it’s forceful. It’s letting go with intention, knowing the burden is too heavy for us but never too heavy for Him.
Anxiety thrives in isolation. When you keep it hidden, it grows stronger. But God’s care is personal, detailed, and specific. He isn’t distant; He leans in. He doesn’t dismiss your anxious thoughts as weakness. He meets them with compassion. He says, “I see you, I care for you, and I’m carrying this with you.”
What if instead of letting anxiety write the story, we let God’s care rewrite it? What if every anxious thought became an opportunity to turn to Him in prayer? Slowly, as you practice this, the grip of fear loosens. The storm might still swirl, but your soul finds shelter in the One who is steady.
Casting your anxiety doesn’t always mean the problem disappears. But it does mean you no longer carry it alone. The weight shifts from your shoulders to His. And when the weight moves, so does the perspective. Anxiety may not vanish in a moment, but peace begins to grow in its place.
What This Looks Like Today
Writing down anxious thoughts and then praying over them.
Replacing “what if” with “God is.”
Asking someone to pray with you when fear feels overwhelming.
Remembering: You are not alone in the battle.
Prayer
Lord, I cast my anxiety onto You. Hold me in Your care. Calm my restless thoughts and remind me I don’t face this alone. Amen.
