Faith When It's Quiet

“Then Jesus told him, ‘You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.’” – John 20:29

Faith is easy when everything feels loud and clear; when God’s voice is obvious, the doors are opening, the Scriptures are coming alive, and your prayers feel like conversations instead of echoes.
But what about when it’s quiet?
There are seasons where Heaven seems silent. Where the Word feels dry. Where the prayers go unanswered, not just for a day or a week, but for months. Maybe you’ve been there. Maybe you’re there now.
You’re not alone.
Think of the Israelites between the Old and New Testaments; 400 years of prophetic silence. Think of Job, who cried out to God and heard nothing for chapters. Think of Jesus, hanging on the cross, crying “My God, why have You forsaken me?”
Silence doesn’t mean abandonment. And it certainly doesn’t mean God stopped working.
Sometimes, silence is where faith matures. When you choose to believe He’s present even when you don’t feel Him, when you show up anyway, when you worship in the waiting, you’re living a faith that’s real and raw and deeply beautiful.
Jesus said you are blessed when you believe even when you can’t see. That includes when you can’t hear. And the reward for that kind of faith? It’s not just what He gives, it’s the closeness He builds in the quiet.
What This Looks Like Today
Continuing your quiet time with God, even if you feel nothing happening.
Trusting His character over your feelings.
Choosing worship over worry, even if your heart feels numb.
Saying, “I trust You,” even when you don’t have all the answers.
Prayer
God, thank You that silence doesn’t mean You’ve left me. When I can’t hear You, help me lean into what I know about You. Strengthen my faith not by feelings, but by truth. Teach me to wait well, trust deep, and stay close, even in the quiet. Amen.
