“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2

Caring for others is a holy calling, but it can also be exhausting. Whether you are caring for children, aging parents, or a family member who needs special support, the weight of responsibility can feel overwhelming. You pour yourself out daily, often in ways unseen by others. Yet God sees, and He cares deeply about both the one you serve and your own heart.
Scripture calls us to carry one another’s burdens, but it never says to do so alone. As a caregiver, it is easy to neglect your own needs or believe that asking for help is weakness. But even Jesus, on His way to the cross, had Simon of Cyrene help carry His burden. If the Son of God accepted help, you can too.
God provides strength for caregivers in many forms. Sometimes it is supernatural peace when you are tired. Sometimes it is through community, friends, or family who step in with practical support. Other times it is through moments of rest where you are reminded that you are not just a caregiver; you are His child, loved and seen.
You were not created to run on empty. To care for others well, you must also receive care from God. When you step into His presence, even for a few minutes, He refills what has been poured out. He carries both you and the one you serve.
Your daily sacrifices may feel unnoticed, but they are precious to God. Every act of care is an echo of His own love. And He promises strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
What This Looks Like Today
Asking someone you trust for practical help.
Taking small moments of rest without guilt.
Praying for strength before you begin caregiving tasks.
Remembering your worth is not only in what you do but in who you are in Christ.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for entrusting me with the care of others. You know the weight I carry, and You know the times when I feel weary. Give me strength beyond my own to keep going in love. Remind me that I am not alone in this calling. Send people to walk with me and refresh me when I feel empty. Teach me to rest in You so I can serve with joy, not burnout. May my caregiving reflect Your heart of compassion. Amen.
