Strength in Surrender

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

We don’t usually associate strength with surrender. The world teaches us to hold it together, hustle harder, and fake confidence until we make it. But Jesus flipped the script: His power doesn’t meet us at the peak of our strength, it meets us in the middle of our weakness.
When Paul cried out for relief from what he called a “thorn in the flesh,” God didn’t remove the struggle. He didn’t eliminate the weight. Instead, He offered something deeper: “My grace is sufficient.”
In other words, “I’m enough, even when you’re not.”
That’s hard to accept when you’re used to carrying everything. When you're the one everyone leans on. When you equate surrender with failure. But biblical surrender isn’t defeat, it’s alignment. It’s saying, “God, I trust Your strength more than my striving.”
It’s in those moments of letting go, of dropping the illusion of control, that God shows up in power. Because now, there's room for Him to move.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to feel strong every day. You don’t even need to carry it all to the finish line.
You need to let Him.
What This Looks Like Today
Admitting your limits and asking for help, whether from God or someone else.
Releasing the desire to manage outcomes and instead trusting His timing.
Choosing to stop performing for people and start resting in grace.
Saying, “I can’t,” and hearing God whisper, “I can.”
Prayer
Jesus, I surrender the weight I wasn’t meant to carry. I give You my weakness, my fatigue, and my fear. Fill the space where I fall short with Your grace. Be strong in me today; not because I earned it, but because You’re good. Teach me to see surrender as strength. Amen.
